Round 1 of CTS3 was also the Inaugural Opening for Rise Up Hobbytown in Palm Desert. This facility had a full service hobbyshop and brand new CRC Black carpet. Entries were light for round 1 but, quality of compettion was solid bringing racers from up and down California.

For Modified Touring, it was Team Xray driver JJ Wang who showed a dominant performance clinching the TQ honors and A-main followed by Awesomatix driver Brandon Clements and defending Champion Rick Hohwart.

In 17.5 Touring Spec it was Brandon Clements who left a statement leaving the competition almost two laps down. His Awesomatix TC had excellent rip and corner speed. JD Ramsey came in 2nd and Ryan Cooper (Team Associated) rounded out the top 3.

In USGT Clayton Young from Maryland came to his first CTS race and gave the Cali locals a run for their money in the main. Juan Aveytia led the entire race while TQ Clayton closed the gap then to drive around Juan’s mistake.

In F1, it was Brandon Clements who showed clutch performance with his R1 Wurks powered Roche Rapide F1 taking TQ honors and Clinching the win. His words were, “I set the car down from practice and kept it the same, didn’t really touch anything just drove it hard…” Congrats to Brandon followed by Steve Burgess in 2nd and Chuck Howell in 3rd.
